Hi there,

This is the second time this has happened. Engine just clicks when turn key in ignition. Starter replaced in July 2013, battery replaced October 2013.

150 km from warranty expiry. At the dealership now - has been since Saturday.

Once boost provided by tow truck, engine turned over. Driven to dealership.

Only -5 degrees C - has recently started with no issues in -27 degrees C.

I think I bought a lemon.

What else can I ask volvo service guys to look for. Last time the car was at the same dealership, service was hesitant to run diagnostics and tell me what the issue was.

Thanks in advance for an answer.

The problem won't be hard to find as long as they can duplicate the problem. That is the issue. It could be a starter or connection problem but it can't be tested unless they can duplicate the problem in their service bay.

Crap - I never thought of that! Is it also possible that there is something drawing power from the battery while the car is not in operation. What could that be, I wonder.

Thanks for your reply.

That's called a parasitic draw and that is possible if your issues only seem to be after being parked a long time. I can give you technical instructions on how to look for that but I doubt you are doing this yourself.

I'm assuming you have already had the battery tested which should have been the very first step.

I would assume that they did that. The car is at the dealership (still under warranty), has been since Sat. I just spoke to the service dept, and they have ``not isolated the problem yet``. I expect a phone call later today.

Will let you know. I`m really not impressed with the service, nor the attitude.

Thanks,
Rachel
