This sounds like a possible vacuum leak and as the engine warms up the leak goes away.

I would suggest focusing first on a vacuum leak. However, you need to do this testing when the engine has the high RPM. Once the RPM drops the leak is most likely gone.

The other possible cause the the PCM thinks there is more air coming in which would be a MAF/MAP sensor issue. So let's check for codes as well
