I just had the engine replaced on my vehicle. When I got it back it ran for about thirty minutes before it broke down. I have the code p0883 and p0700. When I try to start it it cranks but will not start and the relay box under the hood starts making a tapping noise.

Hello,

These codes are for the transmission control module not working which is part of the CAN. If this unit has shorted and can make it so the engine does not start. I would start by rechecking all engine and transmission grounds make sure they are clean and tight.

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

Where would the grounds to the transmission be located on my 06 jeep liberty?

It would be a main engine/chassis ground which is usually on a bell housing bolt near the top. You will need a flashlight and crawl under. Also check the main transmission electrical connector to make sure it is on all the way. Let me know.
