I was driving no faster than 30 miles an hour when the engine shut off.

This can be because of three different issues, the engine lost spark, fuel or it had a mechanical failure, can I ask if the engine sounds normal when cranking? Also, will the engine run on starting fluid? This is an easy way to see what system has failed. Please go over this video which will show you what to do:

I have seen the crankshaft angle sensor go out and cause this problem, here is the location of the sensor so you can swap it out if you have no spark. You can use a scanner to see if it sees engine RPM as well.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
