More than likely you will have engine codes. I would stop by a parts store and have them pulled and let me know what they are. There are a number of things that can cause this light to come on.
As for the battery drain issue, here is a guide that will help go through the common causes. If you don't find any of them causing the issue, you will need to do what is called an ignition off draw test. This is where you hook an meter up between the negative cable and the negative post of the battery. Then when the vehicle goes to "sleep" (about 15 minutes later) you will need to see how many amps are being drawn and then start removing fuses until this drops down around 3-7 milliamps.
