After replacing my battery, the alternator cable was melted. I replaced the cable. Now when I connect the battery, headlights come on and there’s a hum sound from the front driver side corner of the engine. When turning the key to see if it starts, nothing. There no crank, no sound. Also, the washer fluid sprays when trying to start the car. Not sure what all to check and why there’s power with just a battery connection. Any help/ideas is appreciated.

Hello,

This sounds to me like you have a short to power somewhere, probably in the circuit that controls your windshield washer circuit. In the diagrams down below I have included the wiring diagram for your vehicle's windshield washer circuit with the wires going to the windshield washer motor highlighted for you. I also have included instructions for how to track down a short to power in a circuit. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
