Starting with details that led to the discovery of my problems; I started my car one hot day, and rolled the windows down. The rear passenger window made a funny noise, almost like a whirring. My guess is from the motor. I then tried to shift into drive. But it was locked into park (my guess was a faulty brake switch). So, I decided to wind the windows back up and walk, but they would not move. All four windows are stuck in the down position. The radio is not working, the dome lights are out, hazards do not work, brake lights won't come on, speedometer does not work, running lights/headlights come on, turn signals do not, high beam indicator light is stuck on, even when the car is off, and even brightens when the brake is pressed, key fob does not work, trunk button does not work, lights in the trunk do, pretty much all accessories have failed. I checked all fuses. They all look good visually. But a number of fuses under the hood do not light my test light. So I tested them with my multi-meter. Fuse 27 under the hood tested lower than 2 volts. Everything else 12-14 volts. I started with the ignition switch. A red wire with a dark green stripe tested less than 2 volts, but had 400+ ohms. Fuse 23 and 24 under the dash, light my test light when the car is on (i am told they are not supposed to). My next step is to remove the interior fuse box to see if there is any broken wires underneath. Electrical in cars has always been a nightmare to me. And I just learned to use the multi-meter. If anyone has any ideas what I should try next, I am open to suggestions.
