My son's car will rise to hot then suddenly drop back to normal several times during a few mile drive.

I have replaced the thermostat twice, flushed and replenished the coolant with new. What is strange is the car will randomly smoke alot of blue oil smoke out the exhaust and into the car through the vent system really bad to the point you have to put the windows down to breath. Whats up with that?

Also can not get very much heat through the heater core if that helps.

Help!

Hello
Just a couple of question to help me understand. First is this a turbo 4 cyl? Is it a ESi or TSi or standard Talaon?

Next, the car has 133,000 miles on it. It is possible you are not getting good circulation. Has the water pump ever been changed? Are the cooling fans turning? Are the heater hoses going into and coming out of the firewall hot?

Blue smoke out the exhaust is a sign it is burning oil. This could be due to the valve seals, piston rings in the worst case.

As for it coming out the AC vents, have you looked really good to see if you have a exhaust leak under the car or in the engine compartment that is being drawn into the outside vents to the inside of the car?

Air in the system will also keep heat from getting to the core and not allow the car to heat up properly.

Has the radiator cap ever been changed?

If you can provide me with this info I will be able to assist you better.
