Driver door will not unlock and open

Just started to do this recently, when you manually pull the unlock knob just under the handle that opens the door, it forces back into position, the power lock sound and action continues repeatedly for five to ten seconds and then stops. I have to remove driver side t top and climb out driver window, like Dukes of Hazzard.
