Dodge 3500 fails to start, although batteries indicate good charge. I believe the problem to be electrical as starter doesn't engage. All lights are strong, including headlights with no dimming when ignition is engaged. What do you recommend as a procedure to analize the problem. Problem started 1 week previous, but the problem was only occassional. Waiting a brief period, truck would start with no problems. Any ideas?

Hi crawford7921,

Thank you for the donation.

Is vehicle equipped with remote starting mode?

When the dash indicators do not dim while cranking, it indicats the starter is not being energized and it could be
1. PNP switch. Try moving the gesr selestor lever to N and try if it starts.

2. Starter relay. It is located within the Totally Integrated Power Module ( TIPM) and is non serviceable.

3. Ignition switch. The starting circuit contact is bad and not providing power to the starter relay.

When problem ocurs, you should test if the ignition switch is sending power to the starter relay and also if the sterter cranks if battery voltage is applied to the starter solenoid.
