1995 Dodge Stratus car wont start

ive got a 95 dodge stratus that wont start. It was driving fine but exept once in a while I would push the gas and the car would still run but wouldnt go, I filled it with gas and it made it half way home and died, I couldnt get it started and had it towed the rest of the way. Ive changed the fuel filter, checked the spark pluggs, and the fuel pump still make noise when I turn the key, ive been told to check the egr valve but dont know where it is located or even if its the problem, can you think of anything that might be the problem
