If the fan is easy to get to, you can pull it out and check. Not likely for the motor to cause it, but the actual fan blades (it looks like a mouse wheel).
If nothing else, you probably got some debris in there that needs to come out. Removing the fan SHOULD give you access to some of that area to vacuum it out. If it's in the duct work, some exploitory surgery will be needed to find the actual cause of the noise.
