My truck (1999 Dodge Ram 1500 - 5.2V8 auto) failed to start. It has spark and I can hear the fuel pump running (3/4 full gas tank). I had DTC P0443. Cleared the code and it did not return. Still won't start. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Do below to determine if its fuel or spark problem

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 in away from ground have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor /distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, ECM, Ignitor camshaft and crankshaft sensors and computer. Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

The spark is there (at least at one plug wire.) I can hear the fuel pump but I haven't actually tested the pressure. I'll see if one of the local auto parts places will loan or rent one. I'm working on an almost nonexistent budget. I bought a code reader but the only code it displayed (p0443) shouldn't keep the engine from starting. After I cleared the code it did not return. Thanks!
