1998 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a V6 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and I recently got straight pipes on my truck. When I first start to accelerate it gives you that loud sound that I want, but when you give it more gas and power it goes completely silent. My check engine light is on and it said the catalyst efficiency below the threshhold. I was wondering is it just because its a V6 or what?

What all was replaced? Was the converter replaced? It sounds like the guts in the converter or one of the mufflers is loose inside and causing the problem. Is there any ratteling if you tap on the exhaust system? Do you loose power when this happens?
