WITH THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION NOT RUNNING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WON'T STAY ON SO THE SMOG TECH CAN RUN THE PROGRAM.

The mil, bulb test, at key on, is only for 3 seconds and then it goes off. If the tech is commanding the lite to come on, hooking up to the datalink connector, that is a different situation. Any codes? The state I live in, doesn't do vehicle inspections, anymore. Never did sniffer tests, I guess we're kinda backward, here.

Thank You for your response. No your State is not backwards, it is better then Ca. There are no pending codes or codes at all. Everything on the smog test passed, except the Tech failed it because he stated that the MIL Light should stay on with the engine not running but with the key in the on position. When you put the key in the on position, MIL comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off, which to me being a certified mechanic for over 25 years the system is working fine. I also own a 2007 Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi, when you put the key in the on position the MIL Light stays on until you start the vehicle then shuts off. So not all systems are the same, so how can I get it across to the Tech that the system is fine?

Yeah, I see your point. The info I posted came from the site database, mod. I don't know where you go from here. Can you take it to different inspection station?
