Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual 123xxx miles

I was driving my truck and at a stop light on a incline and when light turned green my truck just died as I was starting to drive. I couldn't get it to start back up I thought maybe it was due to being low on gas and not getting to my fuel pump so I added some gas but still no luck. I had it towed thinking maybe just needed to be on a level surface but still wont start. There arn't any other problems and has plenty of power and trys to start but nothing. Are there any easy cheap things I can do to narrow the problem down without having to pay out the butt.

Do below to determine whether it's fuel or spark issue.

Cranks but no start condition:

Fuel and Spark:
Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
