We had a new transmission put in our Ram Wagon 2500 a few months ago. (5.2 liter 318). Since then the van bucks and hesitates on the freeway and occasionaly on surface roads. Almost sounds llike engine is backfiring. We have had plugs, wires, etc already replaced. Our mechanic has out the computer on it and it's not showing any codes. They can't get the pproblem to duplicate when they drive it of course and can't figure out what the problem is. Help!

Hi, there are only to reasons an engine will buck, lack of fuel or lack of spark. We need to test both systems to detreman which system is failing. please follow these links for the testing poceedure.

https://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_to_test_an_ignition_system.htm

and

https://www.2carpros.com/dia/test_fuel_pressure.htm

test up the test with both the fuel and ignition, monitor both while you drive, when the engine bucks look for the failing system. Also dont worry about the engine misfiring when you are doing the ignition test. You will still notice the system failure. please let me know how it goes.
