loud screeching

hi i have a 1996 dodge neon with 150,868 miles with an engine. right when the car starts there is a loud screeching that lasts for about 2-3 seconds and is sometimes,not as loudly,present when i hit the brakes.Im thinking its the breaks but some kat told me it may be a lose tube or something...

I had a simlar problem a few years ago on my old ford, It ended up that i had a bad belt on one of the pulley's. There was a spot that was deformed just enough that it would slip when first started or if i hit the brakes real hard. I replaced it and never had a problem again. Hopefully for you it will be something minor like this.
