2000 Dodge Neon Flashing Check engin Light

My check engin came on and flashed three times. The car sounded like it was "missing" and did not want to acclerate. Could that just be the O2 sensors as I have never chaged them?

Flashing check engine light is an indication of a misfire
and probably in need of a tune up
check for codes
