Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my car is leaqking oil real bad. It just all of a sudden started leaking at a rate of a constant pour. Its comming from inside of the inspection plate for flywheel. After removing front motor mount, support bracket motor to transmisson and inspection cover I find inside bell housing full of fresh oil. It seems like it is comming from up inside. Main seal? Do you have to remove motor from vechile to repair this thank you for your time sincerely Mr. Wells

Hi, First I'd check That The Car Is Not Overfilled with oil. Some Cars Will Leak If Overfilled. To Confirm The Leak, I'd Put Engine dye In The oil and drive the car a day or so. Keep the oil full. I'd take the car to your mechanic and have him put the UV light on it. With the Light and Glasses on, He should be able to see where it is leaking from. If It Is The Rear Main Seal, There Are Two Types, One Seal Is a One Piece Round seal. Which Most Cars Use Today. The Other Seal Is A Two Piece seal. In Order To Install The One piece Seal You need To Remove the Transmission and The Flywheel. The Other Seal Has To Be Installed My removing the oil pan, and then the rear main cap. The seal would be inside there. To find Out What type of seal It would Use call a Auto Parts store, And give Them the info for your car. They will be able to tell you if it's a one piece seal. Or other seal.

Hope This Helps You,
Good Luck
