When I try to start my car I have to hold the key in the ignition position a while before it turns the car on and sometimes I have been there a while. I took it in a couple of times but whatever they did was only a temporary fix, but I was reading the owners manual and it said if it didn't start right away then I should let it set in the on position for 10 seconds then try to turn it on again, so I have been doing that and I am still sitting there a while but I dont know what else to do.

It sounds like the ignition switch is either going bad or out of adjustment. As far as the owner's manual, they recommend not cranking the car for more than 10 seconds to prevent overheating the starter.

You need to remove it from the steering column. I recommend having it checked by a auto electric tech. Also, before removing it, make sure the rod that moves it is moving it all the way.
