2001 dodge intrepid wont start we changed the alternator and put in a new battery because when we shut the car off with the key it kept running then the battery would go dead and now it wont do anything when we turn the key

The ignition switch is at the lower side of the steering column. I would recommend having it checked by a auto electric tech. There are many things that need checked from it.
