1998 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl 85. Miles

I have been having problems with my 98 dodge intrepid since I got it dec 06. If I have been driving for long periods at a time it will not start up again. I took it back to the dealership and was told everything was fine over and over again. Then finally I guess the problem I explained happen to them. So they put a new fuel pump in the car but that still did not solve it. I have just learned over the years to cut certain trips out because of this. More recent the problem is more frequent and happens no matter if I go around the corner or 50 miles away. The fuel pump was replaced for the 2nd time and my problem is still happening. What could be going on? Forgot to mention right before my car starting having this problem more frequently my key alarm stopped working and to get in my car I put te key in and turn it back and fourth 3 times to deactivate the alarm. Could that make the car not start at times?

Why was the pump replaced 2 times? Wasn't it producing enough pressure or wasn't it turning on? Has anyone replaced the fuel pump relay? Have they checked to see if it was getting spark when this happened? Finally, when this happens, will the engine start with starting fluid? If you never tried that, do so. It will tell me if this is ignition or fuel related.

Let me know.
Joe
PS: Has the check engine light ever come on?
