1996 Tranny problems

I have Dodge Intrepid that is a 1996, 3.3L with around 84,000 miles on it. I have had a new engine put in it 2 years ago, but now I have tranny trouble.
The indicator lights PRND3L are all lit and when I drive it for a few hundred feet it shifts itself into L. Sometimes the lights are all on and sometimes it will appear to be normal. I have had problems with it shifting to 4. I may go 2 miles at speed before it changes. Got any ideas short of replacement?

Have you tried the TCC Selenoid? This really may work. Good luck

The wiring harness going to the transmission solenoid pack melts and causes problems like this.
