1991 Dodge Dynasty V6 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

I could tell that my water pump was going out by the grinding sound of the bearings. Finally I could see water under the car so I parked it and replaced the pump. I filled it up with antifreeze, warmed up the engine and drove it for a mile or so. I noticed the temperature guage bouncing higher and higher so I took it home. By the time I got there the gauge was pegged on hot. So I replaced the thermostat and more coolant and drove it again. This time the guage was riding in the uper third but closer to the H, but not pegged. My dad recommended checking the fan to see if it was running. I read where if you turn the ignition to the on position and turned on the AC that the fan should come on. No fan. Started the car and turned on the AC. No fan. Someone suggested disconnecting the battery to reset the computer. No fan or change. Any recommendations?

Yeah! I recommend you test and replace if needed; the engine coolant temperature sensor
