At start up daily the engine stalls, the truck has been tuned up including fuel filter. When coming to a stop you have to use the brake and hold the idle up with your foot. It also appears that the idle is not smooth when doing this. Is there a test port for use of a code scanner or is this something simple that we are missing. Our local mechanic is rather baffled.

First, are you sure there are no vacuum leaks?

As far as the computer scan, there is no port. But rather you turn the key from off to the run position 3 times and let it in the run position (engine off). At that point the check engine light will begin flashing codes. Each code is a 2 digit number. Count the number of flashes. THere will be a slight pause between the code numbers, and a longer one when it goes to a new code.

Let me know what codes you find.
