Electrical problem
2005 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 55K miles

Our 3-year-old Granny-Van has door lock feature that locks all (5) doors with a flick of switch at either front door near the power window switch. This morning as we parked at church, I noticed that this switch (either side) produced no action and the doors stayed unlocked all during church. On arriving home, I checked the system -- the remote buttons on the key make the lights flash and horn honk (as if the lock/unlock mechanism at each door is working) -- but not one door locks or unlocks with the remote or with the switch on the door. We can push down/lift up all the (4) buttons in the passenger area and can also turn the turn the key in the front door to lock/unlock the driver door.
I cannot find [all I have is owner's manual] any fuse labeled for door locks. What could be stopping the electric command to lock/unlock my doors?
We are worried as we cannot find a way to lock the tailgate -- the key opens the gate, but doesn't turn the other way [as if] to lock the tailgate.

Coljoe,

I hope you get this. We have a Caravan also with the exact same issue you describe in your post. I'm wondering if you've found a fix yet. We've been through all the menu options several times now with no luck. I'm sorry that I can't help you out but if I do come across a solution I will try to get it to you. Hope you will do the same. My address: janspin6@netscape. Net

Thanks,
Jan

Coljoe,

Our door locks are working again. We think this probably has something to do with removing and reinserting one, some, or all of the fuses (under the hood next to the battery). Even though none are labeled as protecting the power door lock circuit, that is what we did and the problem vanished. It was either that or the call we placed to the seller to talk about a warranted repair.

Good Luck,
Jan

A TSB has been issued stating that the body Control Module must be flashed with new software, to resolve this problem.
This must be done by a Dodge dealer

There is a yellow 20A fuse at the bottom left of the fuse panel on the driver's side under the hood. It is labeled "IOD". Unplug it for 5-10 sec. Reinstalling it will reset the computer and you should be back in business. Ultimately the dealer should probably re-flash it, but this is a free fix and it will get you up and running again

Thanks for the info about the power locks for our Caravans! I tried your advice and it worked like a charm! God bless you for the advice. In todays world, it is a joy to see people who will help others without any type of payment. As a musician, I am so often taken advantage of, but your help proves that there are still people who God uses to help others. God will bless you for your kindness!

Take care and stay well!
