2002 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Have a 2002 dodge caravan with a whining noise that sounds like a small vacumn leak but is not. It comes from the fuel pump module located on top of the gas tank. The car runs fine, no problems but this started 2 weeks back and is not going away. Car has 60,000 cream puff miles on it. Is this just an annoyance or is something heeded south on the pump itself?
