Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100K miles

I must have kicked the security chip (which when removed the car won't start), my van won't start at all. All of the lights come on, just won't start. Has happened before, and usually if you fiddle with the chip, it will start - this time nothing! Any help - can I bypass the chip? What's going on? New battery, everything else ok - is a little electronically quirky, but pretty sure this is the problem.

If the vehicle is equipped with a factory theft alarm, you should be able to disarm it at any of the door lock switches (make sure the hood is closed ) You can use the drivers or passenger door lock cylinder or the hatch lock cylinder.

It's not the alarm thats going off, its the engine that won't turn on - it's immobilized.

Immobilized by the security system perhaps. Did you try it?

If nothing changed, do you mean it doesn't crank or doesn't start but turns over?
