Why when I frist start my van the lifters sound & the they stop after a bit

Hi:

Always make sure the oil is full. Also, when changing your oil, purchase a quality filter. Some filters allow oil to flow back to the engine. As a result, it takes a few seconds for the pressure to build.

Finally, with that many miles on the vehicle, the lifters may be getting a little weak and take extra time to pump up.
