I installed a brand-new battery. Even with a bad alternator, should my battery only last a day?

Hi,

It is very possible. It matters how much driving was done and what accessories were used. Check the alternator to confirm it isn't charging first. If it isn't, that is what should be replaced. If it is charging but the battery is failing, chances are we have a short in the system at some point.

Here is a link that explains how to test an alternator. All you need is either a voltmeter or a multi-meter.

Newer vehicles, such as yours, have so many different modules and electronics, they will drain a good battery rather fast. So, the idea that it only lasted a day doesn't surprise me.

Let me know. Also, I can help with the alternator if you find it is faulty.

Take care,

Joe
