My husband changed out the entire steering column in my truck. The old one worked with cruise control and all. Since he put the new one in the cruise control doesn't work at all. It doesn't even light up on the dash when you push the on button. Already checked the wires everything is hooked up right, just the way it was with the old steering column. Not sure why it's not working.

Hello,

It is possible that the switch on the replacement steering wheel might have malfunctioned.

As you know that the function worked before it was replaced, and the light got illuminated.
Only thing that is different is the steering wheel, so the issue has to be within the wheel.
I have attached the pinout for the steering wheel harness. Using a multimeter check for continuity in the cruise control switch.
Simply set the multimeter to the lower setting. Connect one prong to the cruise pin and other to the ground pin. Push the cruise button. If it reads anything above zero, then the switch is bad.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Okay. So, I've completely replaced the air bag clock spring that has the wires for the cruise control. But it's still not doing anything. Can't even get the cruise light to come on. After I checked the old cruise control switch and decided I needed to change it out and all I ended up just replacing like I said the whole airbag clock spring part. I don't know if this could've had any effect on the cruise control but the old air bag clock spring, I replaced was all to pieces inside of it. The clocks prong spiral cable part had started melting together.

If the spiral cable begins to melt it can shorten out the clock spring and that will trigger the air bag light and other issues.

So, were you able to check to see if you are getting power to the cruise control connector?
