Had been sitting for two and half weeks this winter. When I started it up and it shut off after five minutes and will not restart. I had ignition parts that I wanted to put on anyways so I replaced the cap and rotor along with the ignition module under the cap. Plugs and wires were installed less than a 1,000 miles ago. So I thought I was done, nope same thing cranks but won't fire. Replaced fuel pump because now I realize I can't hear the pump cycling, not starting. Replaced the EGR module and MAP sensor thought they had something to do with no power issue, wrong again. I disconnected the ECM thinking that would reset it, nope. For some reason I keep getting different things to check and change with all the websites until I discovered 2CarPros. Com. So here I am and I'm seeing something about replacing the crank sensor is this the next step. Biggest problem I'm having is my test light stopped working on me and I'm forty miles round trip to get parts each time and I'm currently not working. So here I am wondering should I go buy another test light and what parts should I bring home. Signs Ted Dalen. No power 1995 GMC k1500. Thanks for your time hope to hear back from you guys. Also the fuel pump relay and fuel filter were changed also.

Hello,

Yes, the first thing I would have done was the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP). Your vehicle's PowerPoint Control Module (PCM) or "computer" uses the signal from the CKP to determine the rotational speed of the crankshaft for engine rpm's and misfire monitor. If the PCM is not getting a signal from the CKP it doesn't know that the engine is cranking. I have included some diagrams for you in the diagrams down below as well as a few links below for you to go to:

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out, please.

Thanks,
Alex
