Parked the truck a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. We went to use it, and there were no lights working or anything. Turned out the BCM had quit. Popped in another one (matching numbers and all) and now everything lights up, it cranks, but will not start. I sprayed staying fluid in it and it will run as long as I keep spraying the fluid. Ran a fuel pressure test and with KOEO, I could only build it up to 52ish PSI, even with a direct lead from the battery to the fuel pump relay making the pump run constantly. If my memory is correct, this truck needs about 60+PSI to run.

Am I correct with the pressure? And is there anything else I'm missing?

The only other thing I can think of would be programming the BCM/security, but I'm certain the truck wouldn't even turn over if that were the problem.

Hi,

Fuel pressure should be between 55 and 62 with the key on and the engine off. See pic below. It should run on 52 PSI.

You indicate only getting 52 PSI supplying power direct from the battery. Was the pump running without the jumper?

As far as the no-start, does the security light stay on or flash? If not, we need to check for power to the fuel injectors.

If you look at the pic below, I highlighted two fuses. At each fuel injector, there will be a pink wire that will have power with the key in the run position. Confirm they have power. If they don't, check the fuses in the pic.

If they don't have power, confirm the fuses are good and there is power to and from them.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Well, I wasn't sure if this could work but I tried the security relearn procedure that was used for many Pass Lock cars back then. I didn't know if it was the right procedure for this truck, bring that it wasn't a pellet key. But I gave it a shot. No dice. Scratched my head a bit. Last ditch thought for the evening. Popped in the old BCM. Now it fires right up and goes just fine. As for the security light question, that thing has been on since dad got it 3 years ago, according to him. Put the key in, the light comes on. Start the truck, it goes away. Not sure what to make of that.

It was running the pump without the jumper. I just know that sometimes with a weak pump, running a jumper gives it enough time and maybe just a shade of extra juice to get the pressure up more. The pressure reading was the same with and without it to be clear.

As it sits, dad's happy with it. He only paid about $900.00 for the thing a few years ago. The way truck prices are, it's probably a $30,000 truck now. But he only uses it about once or twice/month. So as long as it runs, he doesn't care. I'll worry about it again when it decides not to run again.
