I just got home from a year overseas and my truck will not run. I expected this as I came home. I have recently done the following. New battery, new spark plugs, new start position sensor. I have tested the distributor working great. I have tested the fuel pump working good. Sprayed myself in the face from injector rail. So I know the fuel pump is working. Plus I listened to it energize. Still will not start. I am hearing something different with the starter.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

The first thing I would like for you to read through is the following link. It discusses reasons why an engine will not start. After you read through this link, let me know if there is anything there that is helpful. Also, please let me know what sounds different about the starter. If it is cranking faster or does not sound like the compression is quite right, you may have a few stuck valves. In that case, I would suggest checking engine compression. The general directions for that process will be the second link. Please keep in mind, I am basing this inb the engine is getting fuel and the ignition is working (getting spark to the plugs).

Here is the link for engine compression along with two other links discussing reasons why it may be low.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/the-reasons-for-low-compression

Compression should be around 170 psi
Minimum compression is 128 psi
There shouldn't be more than a 15 psi difference between cylinders.

I hope this helps you. Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
