Hi, I recently brought my car into the dealership for a software update, and they did a general checkup and found that the high-pressure fuel pump had a cracked housing. It was not leaking but they recommended I replace the fuel pump. I looked under the hood today to see if I could find where the crack was and just to see how bad it was. I tried looking absolutely everywhere and could not see a single thing that looked wrong, compared to others I found online. I will say that the plastic quick connect on the low pressure fuel line jiggled, but to my understanding that's not an issue as it's not leaking and is staying put. Is there anything that actually looks cracked to you? Should I be able to see somewhere an actual crack or line?

Hi,

Looking at pictures is a bit different than being there. However, I see no evidence of damage in any of the pictures. Did anyone at the dealership indicate where it was cracked? Do you ever notice any fuel odors inside the vehicle?

Let me know.

Joe

From the images it is difficult to see if you have an issue or not? Did you take the pictures with the engine off? How does the low-pressure fuel pump look at the fuel tank? Maybe there was an error in communication. I have seen the low side housing crack and leak. Not on your particular vehicle but in other manufacturers. Can you access the low pressure pump and post images of that?

Thanks Joe, I don't notice any fuel odors and no one at the dealership said where it was cracked, actually it was the only thing in the report that didn't get a picture next to it which is why I looked myself (and being a little paranoid about upselling to me as a girl).

To JIS001, yes, these pictures were with the engine off. I figured they meant the low-pressure fuel pump housing as well because that makes more sense, but I specifically asked them which one to clarify, and the mechanic said it was the high pressure one under the hood. However, it was the sales guy who went back to ask the mechanic not me personally, maybe the sales guy just mixed them up.

I will try to call the dealer and ask one more time, and then I'll check the low-pressure pump today and post a picture. Thanks so much for the reply!
