Wow! I don't know where you live but struts (installed) with alignment is around 200 dollars. What bushings are they saying are bad? The most common cause of the noise you have described is strut plated (bearing) located on the top of the strut. It is the part that bolts to the tower. Let me know what bushings they are talking about so I can let you know what to expect. Also, do the bounce test on the struts. Bounce the front of the car with your hands, and it should stop bouncing withing three bounces. If it doesn't, then struts are needed. If it does, there is nothing wrong with the struts.
