I am considering replacement of the oxygen sensors. I was told by the dealership that one of mine is bad. He said he had to put the car on the analyser to determine which one is in fact bad. He want to charge me $96.00 to analyze it and the parts together only cost about $80.00 or less! I beleive if I just replace the sensors myself I am money ahead. You think? So, how difficult would you suspect the task would be knowing the car is garage kept and low miles? I understand I would need the right socket to remove the sensor. Do they generally, as a rule, need to be heated up?

Yes, the $100 dealership diagnostic fee is way too overpriced.. Since you already know that an oxygen sensor is bad, you should just test them out to see which one it is. Don't know how? No problem ! You can check out how to test them on our How To Repair or Service page! Check it out..

Replacement is quiet simple, they just disconnect from the wire harness then unscrew from the exhaust system or engine block. Most use a special deep socket that has a slit in the end to provide room for the wiring to go. Heating is not necessary.
