Hello, and thanks for your assistance. I have a 1991 Fifth ave 3.3L 120k miles.

When you click the switch for the power locks to open them, the lock buttons pop up a quarter of the way, and right back down again immediatly into the locked position. If you manually push all lock buttons up, they will lock fine with the power button. They just will not unlock. I have tried removing both the drivers side and passengers side switches to determine if one of those were bad, but still same symtoms.

I have also not been able to diagnose my battery draining. Not sure if the two are related, but I do know there are no lights being left on(interior, glove compartment, trunk, etc). It happens often, but not all the time, and can run down within a few hours.

Thanks,
Chris

Sounds like the lock actuators are bad, they could also be the draw on your battery. Factory or aftermarket alarm system hooked up to the locks?

No, no factory or aftermarket alarm. Can you tell me how to diagnose the actuators and where they are located? Is there one for each door? Because all 4 do it at the same time.

Thanks,
Chris

You will have to remove the door panels, they are either popriveted to the inside of the door or are bolted to the latch assembly.I would unplug them one at a time and see if the problem goes away, that will lead you to the shorted one

Thanks for the reply. Will try that, but one more update. I removed the fuse for the locks, and by the button they do not work at all which is fine. But when I get up to 15mph, they still lock automatically. Whats the catch on that?

Thanks,
Chris

Now we are getting somewhere. The door lock relay is controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module) Sounds like it is either seeing a lock signal from one of the two front door lock switches or it is bad and wont let them unlock on command

Thanks,
Chris

Much easier for you to read your way through it. Go to "repair Manuals" link at bottom of main forum page, goes to Mitchell-On-Demand, same software used in professional shops
