i have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6 cylinder 4.0 liter engine with 180,000 miles. The clunking noise is coming from some where in the front end. It starts at about 35 mph It is not the U joints, CV joint, sway bar, bushings, transmission mount- those have all been checked. It tends to level out at 50 mph but it keep clunking any ideas for me???

Have you checked the balance of your tires. I work in a automotive shop and we get people coming in with the same problem you have either check the balance and check for a bent rim.
also another thing to check if you have had your drive shaft off and put back on make sure thay it was put on so u joints are oppisite of one another not the same way. hope this helps :D also you might want tocheck your front end gear bearings

Suggested Repair

Check tire balance and inspect for a bent rim. If the driveshaft was removed, confirm the U-joints were reinstalled opposite each other. Also inspect the front gear bearings.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L engine and 180,000 miles reports a front-end clunk starting around 35 mph that continues, though it levels somewhat at 50 mph. U-joints, CV joints, the sway bar, bushings, and the transmission mount were already checked. The expert suggests checking tire balance and bent rims, verifying driveshaft U-joint phasing if it was reinstalled, and inspecting the front gear bearings.
