1998 chevy venture LS, 3.4 ltr engine. 135k miles Obd connector! Any advise? I live in a metro area that requires state inspections. Last year I was informed that my connector was not functional, and that the following year it would not pass inspection unless this was repaired. What is involved in this? Just the connector or does it get more complicated? Time running out!

I would start on the simple side and check the fuse.

The dlc is a port that the scaner can communicate with different computers within the truck, the circuit is powered by a 15 amp blue fuse. If your cigar lighter doesn't work, it very well may be this fuse.
Look on the pass. Side fuse box

Thanks for all your assistance. As it turns out it was as simple as a 15 amp cigar) fuse. I still dont understand why they couldn't have given me that info at the last state inspection. Thanks again Paul! :D

They didn't give you the information because they are inspecting, not diagnosing. Besides, it ain't always as simple as a fuse.
