ticking sound coming from the drivers side of the engine?

What could cause a ticking sound coming from the drivers side of the engine, other than the lifter, only ticks when foot on gas?

Could be time for a new donut on the exhaust pipe.

I would check for a loose spark plug which can make the noise you are describing.
