96' Lumina Brake Pedal

We have a 1996 Chevy Limuna, 3.1L V6. The brake pedal goes to the floor with little or no braking power. While discussing the problem with a mechanic(heavy equipment) friend of mine he told me the slight sound heard during the depression of the brake pedal meant the diaphram in the power booster was leaking. The noise is a very slight hiss that occurs only when the pedal is traveling towards full depression.

Well. I have installed a new power booster and the problem remains. I can only find a single vacuum hose related the the brake system, from engine to power booster, and cannot find anything wrong with it. I can only assume it is master cylinder related. Any advice?

Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder inside of the engine compartment?

Fluid levels are good.
Replaced master cylinder and brakes stop the vehicle now. Pedal travel is still excessive. There was some darker/heavier fluid in the old master.
Anyboody know the bleed order for this vehicle?
