I have tried upgrading my altenator, but the engine will not run correctly. I have also upgraded the battery with a Deka figerglass mat battery. I tried two different new altenators, one put out varying voltage and the other would only allow the engine to run for a short time. The truck will run fine with the orginal unit, but I want to upgrade as I snowplow and run other accessories too. Any suggestions?

Ok have you check to see if you can get a Powermaster unit. This is a company that does factory match altenators that are higher amp units. They were disigned to give more amps due to stereos but I see no reason why it wouldn't do the same for you for the plow. It will only put out the right amps as needed that is what the regulator in it is for. Check out Powermaster and hopefully this will help. Thanks and have a great day.
