Hello.I have a 2000 C3500 with a 7.4L V8 and I was wondering what would cause a code p0171 at least once a day. Was reading that a partially plugged catalytic converter would do this, is this true? Code P0171 and P0174 are occasionally popping up as well.
Truck has some surging and doesnt seem to have all the power it once did but if I "git up on it" it runs great 5 out of 10 times. This problem doesnt occur if I am or have towed a load recently, its just happening during commutes. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Clogged cat. Converter will definitely cause this code to appear along with the symptoms you stated. Need to do a flow test on the converter. If it is clogged than you will want to find why it clogged up in the first place before replacing it. Usually an engine burning oil will clog up the cat. Converter so make sure you have no oil leaks internally. Also need to test the oxygen sensors.
