1997 Chevy Truck

I have a 97 chevy 2500 deiseal truck when I try to start it it cranks but wont start and the battery cable end gets hot on the postive side and has melted the plastic im not sure why its not startin you guys have any idea?

I'm not a great diesal mechanic, but I noticed no one has answered this. My first concern is the starter. If it is drawing too many amps, it could be taking away from the ignition system and preventing it from starting. If you have a + battery terminal that has melted, have the starter checked for drawing too many amps and let me know what you find.

Since the vehicle won't start, you will need to remove the starter. Most parts stores will bench test it at no charge.
