1996 Chevy Cavalier

1996 CHEVROLET TRUCK

I have a 96 cav 2.2 and just replaced head gasket, thermostat, water pump flushed system and there is no heat. The Temp guage goes all the way to red and then drops to cold, the low coolant light is on but the coolant is full, What the heck is going on? What would cause this problem? PLEASE HELP! Gr-elvis

You may need a new heater core. Or it is plugged you can blow it out with a compresso. Where it plugs in a the fire wall. Do it when its cold.

Plugged heater core may be true. The low coolant light is probably the "low coolant light" sensor and I wouldn't worry about that. Not related to the issue. T-stat although be may be bad, more commmon than you would want to believe.

They replaced T-stat. Unless they got a bad one. You can test the t-stat by placing ina pan of boiling water to see if it opens.

I realize they did, new ones have a higher failure rate than one would expect. Don't know that's the cause, but wouldn't overlook it either.

I agree with you.I hope this helps them.I not a mechanic but i've had to work on alot of vehicle in my time. Cars are getting harder to work on with all the computer stuff. Butt heater ploblems are usually pretty simple. Good luck!
