1995 Chevy Cavalier - won't start after ran out of gas

Okay, so I let my car run out of gas. When I put gas into it, it still would not start.

I have two people telling me two different things. 1) fuel pump and 2) that I could (or husband) take a wrench to the to the pipe that comes out of the fuel filter while turning the key forward and let air out. He said that since I let the car run completely out of gas that I need to let air out so that the gas will flow through.

So, I have one person that it is just air that needs to be let out of the pipe or whatever its called and that would be cheap and easy - but when I told this to someone else they said they had heard of that with break fluid but not air stopping the gas from flowing. And someone else telling me that its the fuel pump. I am so lost.

Can someone please tell me because I can't go on with just one car with two people working!

Check for fuel pressure, your fuel pump may have gone out.

So, does that mean that checking for air in a hose is not an option? Thank you for your previous advise also.

So, I can JUST try that and see if it works? I was told to have that done. Then, if it still doesn't start, check fuel pressure (above) and then may be fuel pump? Or will probably be fuel pump anyway? Just wanting to know my options, etc. Thanks.
