1993 Chevy S-10 coolant leak in CAB?

I have a 1993 Chevy S10 with 143,000 miles on it. It has a 2.8L v6 engine - no A/C - 2WD. Recently there is this knocking/ticking noise comming from the passenger sideengine compartment. Also, alfter the engine warms up the cab fills with light smoke smelling like antifreeze and it fogs up the windows to the point where you can't see when driving. The mist on the windows is oily and doesn't remove easily. If you turn the heat on to HI it gets much worse as it pours into the cab area. I was tolld it might be the smog pump. I did replace the radiator and hoses but this didn't help. What would cause this?

I think you have a bad heater core. That the thing in the firewall area that the coolant stuff runs through. Daddy says you got the typical symptoms of it. I don't know the tickin noise though. You better check yer coolant level too.

That heater core ting is like a lil ol radiator thing that is in front of the blower motor, When you turn on the blower, the blower goes an gets you all hot. :Wink:

You were right - the heater coil was leaking and to get at it was quite the task. I got another one for $20 at a local parts shop. The ticking nose was from the smog pump. I removed it and inside were all pieces of the inner parts falling out.
