I have to keep adding antifreeze about once a week, roughly a half gallon or more at a time. I cannot see anywhere where the antifreeze is leaking from. I recently replaced the water pump and thermostat along with gaskets because the water pump gasket was leaking. Ive checked my oil and see nothing in it (no icecream). Could it possibly be a bad head gasket or bad intake gasket? The truck isnt missing any so I didnt think it would be a cracked head.

I have the same problem. I am loosing about a quart a week. You can smell it but you can;t find it. I have heard it is a very common problem. We have a 97 and a 98 Chev and GMC both do the same thing.
I am going to call one of my good friends in A chev
dealership (parts Dept.) If I can find out the answer
I'll post a message back to you.

Okay I think I may of found the problem. There is a pressure release on the bottom of the coolant recirulation tank cap. I dunno if its the problem or not but it seemed that maybe the antifreeze was pushing out of the overflow tube. I replaced the cap with a new one today and I will post back in a week or so and let you know if that was the problem.
